The International LifeLine™ membership program simultaneously provides several layers of benefits to its Members.

International LifeLine™ Benefits include:

A. Evacuation service for a medically related incident
B. Worldwide repatriation to a hospital of the Member’s choice
C. Medical stabilization expenses prior to medical transport
D. Repatriation of mortal remains
E. Kidnap and extortion resolution services
F. Political & civil unrest evacuation services

WORLDWIDE MEDICAL EVACUATION, EMERGENCY MARITIME EVACUATION, & REPATRIATION BENEFIT DESCRIPTION

The Worldwide Medical Evacuation, Maritime Evacuation, & Repatriation benefit is part of the International LifeLine™ annual and trip memberships. This benefit provides the coordination of evacuation for a medically related incident, as well as repatriation services. To utilize the repatriation service, it requires the member to be admitted into a hospital* and will transport them to a hospital closer to home or hospital of their choosing. (*see Country exclusions below). All operations are coordinated by the International LifeLine™ Response Center. The International LifeLine™ Response Center is staffed 24/7/365 to liaise between medical personnel and the Membership holder. Our services include 24-hour multi-lingual support. This allows our staff to coordinate and liaise with patients, their families, doctors, nurses, and specialists across the world — no matter what language is spoken locally.

BENEFIT LEVEL

The International LifeLine™ program will provide medical evacuation, maritime evacuation, and repatriation to a hospital nearest your home or hospital of your choosing that is capable of providing the treatment you require, as determined both by the physicians providing your current treatment and by International LifeLine™. Medical evacuation and repatriation will take place in a medically equipped and staffed aircraft, ambulance, or other mode of transportation. The amount covered is specified in the scale of benefits as detailed in the Benefits Sections “A” through “D” below:

If an International LifeLine™ Member is injured or becomes ill during a trip, International LifeLine™ will arrange and cover the costs of medical repatriation benefits up to the Benefit Level specified in Table A for delivery of benefits required by the Member and arising from any incident notification made by Members, subject to these Terms and Conditions, whose membership is valid and current at the time of and during incident period for:

A. Emergency medical evacuation expenses incurred on the advice of the Doctor or Emergency Services appointed by the Medical Emergency Provider to transport the Member to a Medical Facility (known as Medical Facility ‘A’).
B. Repatriation expenses incurred to transport the Member to a Medical Facility (known as Medical Facility ‘B’) nearer to the Member’s permanent residence, or to the hospital of their choosing, following an emergency medical evacuation provided that:

a. The Doctor agrees that the Member is sufficiently fit to travel, if necessary, by air ambulance or other appropriate specialized transport; and

b. Such Member is 99 miles or more away from their permanent residence.

C. Medical expenses incurred in Medical Facility ‘A’ following emergency medical evacuation for medical, surgical, hospital,or ambulance fees or other diagnostic treatment given or prescribed by a Doctor and for charges for staying in a nursing home.
D. The expenses to send home a Member’s ashes or body if they die during a covered Trip (Repatriation of Mortal Remains).

PAYMENT CONDITIONS AND LIMITS TO BENEFIT

KIDNAP & EXTORTION RESOLUTION AND POLITICAL EVACUATION BENEFIT DESCRIPTION

If an International LifeLine™ Member becomes illegally detained by any third parties, International LifeLine™ will provide, to its Members:

A. “Kidnap & Extortion Resolution” service, which will pay the fees and expenses of Guidry Group as Response Consultants to assist Individual Members in the event of a Kidnap or Extortion.

B. a guarantee of payment, up to the Limits of $1,000,000 for Losses arising from any claim by Members under the “Kidnap & Extortion Resolution” membership benefit specified in the below table for delivery of benefits required by the Member and arising from any incident notification made by Members, subject to these Terms and Conditions, whose membership is valid and current at the time of and during incident period.

If an International LifeLine™ Member requires emergency evacuation due to a political event, International LifeLine™ will provide to its Members:

A. “Political Evacuation” service. This covers any costs and expenses necessarily incurred by a Member(s) arising during a trip in order to assist in a Political Emergency Evacuation following an Evacuation Advisory, provided that such services have been managed by the Emergency Provider appointed by International LifeLine™.The amount covered is specified in the table below.

Afghanistan, Chechnya, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Iran, Israel (West Bank, Gaza and the occupied territories only), North Korea, Somalia, Mali, Ukraine, Russia, Sudan, and Syria.

Kidnap and Extortion Resolution Services (SECTION E)

Territories from which kidnap and extortion resolution memberships may not be utilized include (subject to change):

Afghanistan, Chechnya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Israel and Palestinian territories, Venezuela, Myanmar, Haiti, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Pakistan, Lebanon, North and South Sudan, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and any US/UK/European Sanctioned Countries.

Territories from which Kidnap and Extortion Resolution memberships may not be purchased from (subject to change):

Afghanistan, Algeria, Belarus, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, China, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Timor-Leste, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Haiti, Honduras, Israel and Palestinian Territory, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Mexico, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, North Sudan, Pakistan, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen and any US/UK/European Sanctioned Countries.

Political Evacuation Services (SECTION F)

Territories from which political evacuation memberships may not be utilized include (subject to change):

Afghanistan, Chechnya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Israel (West Bank, Gaza and the occupied territories only), Venezuela, Myanmar, Haiti, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Pakistan, Lebanon, North and South Sudan, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and any US/UK/European Sanctioned Countries.

EXCLUSIONS

The exclusions set forth are for the protection of our members and to allow International LifeLine™ to continue to offer this high value membership at affordable prices.

International LifeLine™ Memberships excludes incident notifications arising from, or contributed to, by any of the following:

DEFINITIONS (FOR SECTIONS A – D and F)

Active War – Active participation in a war by a Member who is deemed under English Law to be under instruction from or employed by the armed forces of any country.

Doctor – A Registered Medical Practitioner holding a valid license to practice medicine in a recognized international or domestic body. The doctor cannot be:

  1. The Member (of the Qualifying Membership Benefit); or
  2. An immediate family member of the Member, as it relates to evaluation of patient symptoms, conditions, or other relative medical information.


Expedition
 – An organized journey or voyage for a specific purpose; especially but not exclusively for exploration, or for a scientific or military purpose, and organized by a third party or an organized journey requiring a permit:

Hospitalized/Hospitalization – Hospitalized as an inpatient at a Medical Facility on the advice of a Doctor.

Individual Member / Individual Membership – The subscribing individual to the Orbis International LifeLine™ Emergency Medical Evacuation and Medical Repatriation Services.

Medical Emergency Provider – International LifeLine™ authorized medical evacuation and repatriation provider.

Medical Facility – A legally registered establishment for ill or injured persons, which provides (a) medical and surgical treatment; and (b) 24-hour nursing care by registered nurses. This does not include:


Member
 – Any individual who subscribes to the International LifeLine™ Membership (including the MEDEVAC program).

All annual membership periods are for 365 days (1 year) from the start of subscribed membership and are eligible for renewal by the covered member, including the option of setting up an auto-renewal for this membership.

In respect of Individual Membership, a Member will be the sole subscribing individual, however in respect of multiple memberships for family members or friends:

  1. Child – Any Member’s (whether the subscribing individual to the Member’s membership or the subscribing individual’s Partner) natural, legally adopted, foster, or stepchild provided that such child is unmarried and under age 19 and permanently living with the member; or up to age 23 if in full-time education. 
  2. Partner/Spouse – A Member’s legally married spouse, or registered civil partner under the Civil Partnership Act 2004, who permanently lives with the Member or a person who is permanently living with the Member and has been for at least 6 months and the relationship is in the nature of a marriage even though it has not been legally formalized.

Enforced Political Emergency Evacuation – The evacuation of a member(s) from the Country in which they are visiting/staying as a result of an Evacuation Advisory triggered by a Political Event.

Political Event – An event that may lead to an incident involving more than one Member, all of whom are traveling together as part of one group or party arising out of an:

Evacuation Advisory – Advice issued by or on behalf of the national government of the member(s) home state to the effect that the member(s) should evacuate the country in which the member(s) is situated. 

Pre-Existing Medical Condition


Qualifying Event
 – An incident involving one or more covered Members being admitted as a patient for stabilization or continued care following an incident that occurs more than 99 miles from their place of residence.

Terrorism – An act including, but not limited to, the use or threat of force and/or violence of any person or group(s) of persons, whether acting alone, on behalf of, or in connection with any organization(s) or government(s), committed for political, religious, ideological, or similar purposes or reasons including the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public, or any section of the public, in fear.

Trip – Any journey of 99 miles or more from a Member’s permanent residence. This benefit allows the covered individual the ability to travel without any restrictions relating to trip length.

War

DEFINITIONS (FOR SECTION E)

Active War – Active participation in а War by а Member employed by the armed forces of any country.

Extortion – The making of illegal threats either directly or indirectly to a Member to:

a. kill, injure or abduct a Member; or

b. cause physical damage to or loss of Property;

c. persons who then demand a Ransom as a condition of not carrying out such threats.

Kidnap – The actual or alleged illegal taking captive or abduction of one or more Members within the territory specified in the Schedule or Risk Details (as applicable) by persons who then demand a Ransom specifically from the assets of Member as a condition of the release of such captive(s) or abductee(s).

Member – Any person who subscribes to the International LifeLine™ Membership.

Property – Buildings (including fixtures, fittings and other contents), waterborne vessels and aircraft owned or leased by a Member, or for which a Member is legally liable.

Ransom – Cash and/or marketable goods or services surrendered or to be surrendered by or on behalf of a Covered Person to meet a Kidnap or Extortion demand

War – War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to or uprising, military or usurped power; or any Act of Terrorism or any act of war or Act of Terrorism involving the use of or release of а threat to use any nuclear weapon or device or chemical or biological agent.

As part of the International LifeLine™ Program, the Medical Evacuation & Repatriation benefit is a prepaid private Medical Evacuation Membership program and is not an insurance plan, travel insurance policy nor healthcare plan and, therefore, International LifeLine™ will not reimburse members for any expenses they incur on their own.

The International LifeLine™ Political Evacuation and Kidnap & Extortion Resolution benefits are prepaid private Political Evacuation and Kidnap and Extortion Resolution programs and, therefore, International LifeLine™ will not reimburse members for any expenses they incur on their own.
